Paul Neuviale

EDITOR

I am passionate about bringing unique stories to life. It is always an honour to join an author on their journey and to witness this beautiful creative process unfold.

Hi, I’m Paul!

Headshot of Paul Neuviale, nonfiction developmental editor and writing coach.

I’m a passionate developmental editor and writing coach for nonfiction authors, specializing in self-help, how-to, and memoirs. I work primarily with independent authors, life coaches, and course creators covering subjects such as personal development, spirituality, and relationships. Thanks to my academic background, I am comfortable working on research-based manuscripts, coming up with clear and compelling outlines, and identifying gaps in arguments.

Some topics I am familiar with include burnout, trauma, loneliness, mindset, relationships, gratitude, love, boundaries, cancer, dementia, grief, addiction and recovery, marginalization, LGBTQ+, ASL, Enneagram, MBTI, Internal Family Systems, transpersonal psychology, Christianity, new age, fringe spirituality…

If you’ve got an amazing story, an original take on an engaging topic, and a fresh new voice, I want to hear from you!

My job as an editor is to give you the tools to be the best writer you can be. I merely suggest improvements, and I never give orders. I empower you to express your opinions without reservation. Whether I agree or disagree with those opinions is irrelevant.

I pride myself on my ability to look at big-picture items and small details simultaneously. I keep in mind both what is there and what could be there. This allows me to successfully bring your vision to life.

Here is how I can help:

  • When you’ve poured your heart and soul into your book for many months, it can be hard to see the forest for the trees. As an unbiased outsider, I can help you identify your strengths and areas for improvement, as well as next steps.

  • Together, we can assert your position as a subject matter expert to zero in on your target audience, your book thesis, and a compelling outline that ties it all together.

  • The writing process can be a very emotional one. I have coached many authors through this process, addressing imposter’s syndrome and writer’s block, among other things. As a coach, I can be your accountability partner, setting up a writing schedule that you can stick to.

My services include:

  • Developmental editing: A full edit of your manuscript with margin comments and an editorial report to guide you through revisions.

  • Manuscript assessments: A high-level report of the strengths and weaknesses of your manuscript, with actionable advice for revisions.

  • Writing coaching: To support you through your writing and publishing journey.

For more information on the authors I have worked with, I encourage you to look through my Testimonials and Portfolio pages. I offer a free discovery call to talk about your project and see if we’re a good match.
